What is E&O insurance for contractors?
E&O and professional liability are the same coverage with different names. E&O is the term more commonly used in service industries; professional liability is more common in construction and engineering. For contractors, they’re interchangeable.
E&O covers: errors in your professional recommendations, omissions of critical information or specifications, design mistakes in design-build projects, and project management failures that cause financial harm to clients.
E&O does not cover bodily injury or property damage (that’s GL), nor does it cover intentional wrongdoing. It’s specifically for unintentional professional mistakes that cause clients financial harm.
